The Jerry Garcia Band experience, The Maykers, will kick off 2012 with three shows in Southern California. Not a standard JBG tribute act, The Maykers features some Jerry Garcia Band alumni and other family members, including drummer David Kemper (who played in JGB from ’83-’94 as well as well as with Bob Dylan for five years), guitarist Andy Braunstein (who played a few private acoustic jams with Garcia in the mid ’80s), vocalists Cheryl Rucker and Shirley Starks (who sang with Melvin Seals and JGB), Richard Hardy (a member of Carole King’s band and an early contributor to Dave Matthews Band), bassist Marty Holland (a nine-year veteran of Melvin Seals and JGB) and lead singer Scott McGregor. Over the years The Maykers have had the privilege of performing with guests, including Martin Fiero.

In February, the band will perform at Ventura, CA’s The Crave Lounge on February 16, with Rachel Sedacca’s Scarlet Fire (featuring Matt McDuffee of Quactus on drums) opening the show. Then on February 17 The Maykers will perform at Santa Barbara, CA’s Whiskey Richards with Quactus and Shaky Feelin’ supporting while on February 22 the group will appear at Hermosa Beach, CA’s Saint Rocke.
