The second annual Jungle Jam took place this past weekend at the Doce Lunas Resort in Jaco Beach Costa Rica. As previously reported, the original BK3 lineup (consisting of Bill Kreutzmann, Scott Murawski and Oteil Burbridge) reunited for the first time in a number of years. The group performed three sets throughout the weekend, in addition to sets from Ryan Montbleau Band, Max Creek and Zach Deputy.

On Sunday, members of the groups joined together for a series of collaborations which began with Ryan Montbleau, Max Creek keyboardist Mark Mercier and bassist John Rider sitting in on “Get Down In The Jungle,” a tune with lyrics penned by Montbleau earlier that evening. Later in the set, Kreutzmann and Burbridge left the stage, making way for a lengthy “Scarlett Begonias” jam featuring Murawski, Rider, Max Creek percussionist Jamemurrell Stanley and drummer Bill Carbone as well as members of the Ryan Montbleau Band. The same lineup, augmented by Mark Mercier on and Ryan Montbleau on vocals, returned for the encore, a cover of Paul Simon’s “Late in the Evening.”

In addition Murawski and Burbridge also sat in with Ryan Montbleau for a take on Stevie Wonder’s “Boogie On Reggae Woman” on Sunday.
