Drummer Kelly Kane has left New England’s The Brew. Kane played with the onetime New Groove of the Month band for a decade. His departure comes shortly after The Brew released the new triple-album “experience” Triptych.

A message from the band explains:

Due to some national radio success with [our new albums] Triptych, we’ll be taking to the road full-time to drop into radio stations, play concerts, and get our music out there. Unfortunately, touring nationally while still an emerging band makes for very lean financial times, and Kelly, as a homeowner with a mortgage to uphold, had to make a most difficult decision.

Kelly has been a tremendous asset to the band for the past decade, contributing greatly to the trajectory that put us where we are today. He will surely be missed. As always, The Brew will press on.

Kelly wants to thank all of the friends, family and fans who have given him their love and support over the years. He’s sure you’ll see him around (no pun intended) at shows and whatnot. Kelly will always be a huge part of The Brew’s past, and he hopes to be part of its future, in one way or another. He cannot stress enough how difficult this decision has been, and he’s very thankful for all the fond and joyful memories we share. The Brew wants to thank everyone for their ongoing support as we continue down the road at this promising and exciting time.

The Brew will reveal their mystery drummer during a performance at Newburyport, MA’s The Grog this Monday, February 27. The group will then kick off an extended tour at Syracuse, NY’s Westcott Theatre on Wednesday.
