Bassist/composer/vocalist Esperanza Spalding was a featured performer on Sunday night’s 84th Academy Awards ceremony. Spalding performed a rendition of “What a Wonderful World” as a tribute to fallen stars including Whitney Houston, Steve Jobs and Elizabeth Taylor. Spalding also played bass for the majority of the ceremony with the orchestra, except during her solo appearance in the balcony to perform “Minor Swing” and to sing “What A Wonderful World.”

As previously reported, Spalding will release her new album, Radio Music Society, on March 20 via Heads Up International.
