God Street Wine will play three reunion shows this summer. Over eighteen months since their last performance aboard Jam Cruise 9, core GSW members Aaron Maxwell (guitar), Dan Pifer (bass), Jon Bevo (keyboards), Tom Osander (drums) and Lo Faber (guitar) will perform at New York’s Gramercy Theatre from August 16-18. A “Wino” pre-sale will begin March 14 at 10 AM.

The seminal jamband originally split in 1999 but reunited for a one-off performance in 2001 as part of Wetlands’ closing celebration. On May 30, 2009, the group performed at a private memorial for longtime taper and band friend Paul Ducharme, paving the way for a more permanent reunion. After a few months of speculation, the band played two formal reunion gigs at New York’s Gramercy Theatre during the summer of 2010. Both shows swiftly sold out, and the members of God Street Wine added two additional dates at New York’s Irving Plaza as well as two sets aboard Jam Cruise 9. The latter gigs even featured the band’s first collaboration with Bob Weir.

Though the band’s reunion was by most accounts a success, God Street Wine announced an “indefinite hiatus” in February, 2011. The group cited “families, careers, and geographic locations” as the primary reasons for the hiatus. During that time, increased interest in GSW led to several side-project performances: Maxwell and Faber played a series of acoustic gigs, while the entire band—with the exception of the Europe-based Osander—performed a handful of dates with various guest musicians. Maxwell, Faber and Bevo also played a show under God Street Wine’s old Jon Bevo’s Love Orchestra alias earlier this winter. God Street Wine teased their current reunion last week by posting a series of cryptic messages on their website.
