According to the Aspen Times, Bob Dylan is said to be recording a new studio album. As the article states, Dylan has been working on new material at Jackson Browne’s Los Angeles studio.

An interview with Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo—a collaborator on Dylan’s last studio album, 2009’s Christmas Through The Heart—reveals that he has been in the studio working with Dylan on a new record. Hildalgo states in the interview:

“It was a great experience. And different. Each one has been different, all completely different approaches. It’s an amazing thing, how he keeps creativity. I don’t see how he does it.”

The Los Lobos singer goes on to say that the new album may feature a Mexican-influenced sound resulting from the use of an accordion and a Tres—a Cuban 6-string chordophone—during the sessions.

“He’d say, ‘Wow, what’s that?’ He liked the sound. So we’d get it in there,” says Hildago.

The title and release date of the album have yet to be revealed.
