Kung Fu Kicks Off Bowl Sessions Residency

Last night, Kung Fu kicked off their Bowl Sessions at New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl. Early in the performance, Dopapods’ Rob Compa joined the group on guitar for “You Know What I Mean” before Trey Anastasio Band trumpet player Jennifer Hartswick and trombonist Natalie Cressman joined in for much of the set, dubbed for the evening as the “Dojo Horns.”

Toward the end of the show, during “The Hammer,” Kung Fu guitarist Tim Palmieri turned his guitar over to the audience, which included Compa along with Dopapod bassist Chuck Jones and drummer Neal Evans, among other fans.

Next week’s performance on April 16 will feature a more electronic theme with guest bands Sonic Spank and Johnny Rabb’s Bio Deisel featuring Clay Parnell from Brothers Past and the addition of bassist Matthew Garrison.

As previously reported, The Disco Biscuits Jon Gutwillig will join Kung Fu and Damn Right! on 4/23.
