The Allman Brothers Band and Santana Confirm Co-Headlining Summer Dates

After taking most of last summer off, The Allman Brothers Band have confirmed their annual summer tour. The East Coast and Midwest tour will kick off at All Good in late July and come to a close at the Peach Music Festival in August. The Allman Brothers Band will tour with Santana for most of the run, though moe. will open for the group in Atlanta and Lynyrd Skynyrd will co-headline two dates in North Carolina. The Allman Brothers Band will also offer two more intimate “evening with” shows in Boston.

Though this is the first time The Allman Brothers Band and Santana have co-headlined a summer tour, the jamband forefathers have crossed paths over the years. Carlos Santana also sat in with the ABB during one of their reunion shows in 1986. The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd co-headlined a tour together for the first time in 2004 but, surprisingly, the two bands never collaborated onstage.

In other news, Gregg Allman has confirmed that his book tour is back on and will kick off on May 8. Allman recently postponed his book signing tour to undergo some health tests.

Here’s a look at the ABB’s tour dates

July 21 Thornville, OH—All Good Festival
July 22 Darien Center, NY—Darien Lake Performing Arts Center (with Santana)
July 24 Wantagh, NY—Nikon at Jones Beach Theater (with Santana)
July 25 Holmdel, NJ—PNC Bank Arts Center (with Santana)
July 27 Saratoga Springs, NY—SPAC (with Santana)
July 28 Hartford, CT—Comcast Theatre (with Santana)
July 39 Columbia, MD—Merriweather Post Pavilion (with Santana)
August 1 Atlanta, GA—Chastain Park Amphi. (with moe.)
August 3 Charlotte, NC—Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre (with Lynyrd Skynyrd)
August 4 Raleigh, NC—-Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion (with Lynyrd Skynyrd)
August 7-8 Boston, MA-Bank of America Pavilion
August 10-11 Scranton, PA—Peach Music Festival

I just do not get it…. Gregg is physically unable to play… Warren and Derek and the boys are more than capable of entetaining the crowd, but I would appreciate it if they would assure fans Gregg was going to be able to play the whole show. Unless they have Kofi touring with them all the time

Jason May 1, 2012, 09:55:56

Holmdel is in New Jersey, not New York

taylor May 1, 2012, 10:36:25

kofi is touring with them all the time he is gregg’s fill in!

Shea May 1, 2012, 10:53:57

To the editor, Awesome that July has 8 more days than usual! July 39 will be a show of epic proportions!!!

Pm May 1, 2012, 10:56:12

They should call this tour “lets kill Gregg tour 2012”, and how appropriate they share the bill with Lynyrd Skynyrd the only thing missing is Further on the bill.

Jesse May 1, 2012, 10:56:41

July 39???

Chucky cheese string May 1, 2012, 11:00:38

The Road goes on Forever….if Gregg wants to go out on the road….I say ride baby ride…

Lynryd Skynyrd? Again? Really? I guess I’ll be skipping the NC shows, which only leaves Atlanta. When this happened in 2004, the crowd was horrible (a mix of the “Can you sit down, I can’t see” and the diehard fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd). It sucks that after two years of no ABB in NC, we have to be subjected to a sell out crowd of LS fans who complain about long drum solos and ask “Why come the geetar players got sleeves on they shirts?” Do we get stuck with LS because we’re in the south? If so, almost every LS fan around me had driven down from Pennsyltucky. How about switching LS out for Santana at the Jersey show so the LS diehards don’t have so far to drive? FML

Well this sounds like a really horrible idea. Are they going to bring a hologram of Gregg along just in case?

Midwest????? May 1, 2012, 12:39:48

Midwest Tour? One show in Ohio makes this look like (Another) East Coast Tour with One Stop in the Midwest.

Mike G May 1, 2012, 12:48:23

Why no Philly/Camden love?

James May 1, 2012, 12:55:38

Who needs Camden?!? Just make the short drive up to Scranton for The Peach!!!

Scott May 1, 2012, 13:29:28

I saw them at the Beacon in March, don’t let the health stuff slow YOU down. Gregg did very well at that show, and yeah he had some news and tests last week, but when were you last at the doctor? Life is short..Live it!

tim May 1, 2012, 15:16:31

derek, warren & santana playing Europa priceless

todd May 1, 2012, 15:43:13

Its always great reading comments on this site. Of course those jam band fans think of themselves as so open minded and that they are the cool folks. In reality they are a bunch of judgmental close minded ass wipes. You would practically find more “ cool” people these days at a Kenny Chesney concert. Well, maybe that is going to far but you get the idea.

First of all, calling part of the tour a “Midwest” tour is a bit of a lie, since the only Midwestern state on the tour is Ohio. They haven’t played Milwaukee in ages, but you’d think they’d at least hit Chicago. Regardless, with Gregg’s recent health scares, being unable to finish some shows, and the off, now on-again book tour, I wish he’d just take the summer, maybe the rest of this year, and get healthy again. THEN hit the road with a vengeance if/when he’s healthy enough to do so once. Maybe do a really extensive ABB tour, the kind of which they haven’t done in a while, and perhaps that long awaited follow-up album to Hittin’ the Note? Asking a lot, I guess, but for fuck’s sake Gregg, take care of yourself!!

norma stitz May 1, 2012, 20:59:48

Hahaha Mike. There is no Ls without Ronnie Van Zant. Artemus Pyle said so . One original member. Pawlease

norma stitz May 1, 2012, 21:02:38

Mind You, Rossington can do whatever he wants after that plane crash

JK May 5, 2012, 15:10:35

Wow – coming from an ABB fan saying that Skynyrd is not Skynyrd without RVZ. Seriously, how many original ABB members are left? But hey, you quoted Artimus, right? How much more valid can you get? LOL

Will May 7, 2012, 14:43:08

Chastain Park in August?? Why don’t you look for a hotter spot? You can’t find one on earth I bet.

Your mom July 22, 2012, 10:19:08

Woooooooooo Hooooooooooooo
Allmans & Carlos tonight @ Darien!
Besides the 11 dollar beers it’s gonna be great!

bobby July 22, 2012, 13:38:44

who opens at darien…carlos or allmans?

joseph July 24, 2012, 13:31:19

anyone know who opened? Or who will open at jones beach? I don’t want to get there all early to hear santana play the same solo 45 times.

gg July 24, 2012, 22:24:30

ABB is opening for Santana at PNC Wednesday night. Does this mean they will play a shorter set than if they were headlining? I may just say ‘fuck it’ if that is the case.

OMG such belly aching; you guys are sad indeed! I just saw the show last night in Saratoga…what an incredible blow-out!!! Wow, I mean EVERYONE was fantastic! I had center, 2nd row seats; what a thrill. Each band played about two hours and at one point Derek and Warren came on with Carlos and his band to do a WILD version of Cream’s “ Sunshine of My Life!” The TALENT was mind blowing. I’m so very glad to have experienced it. Yea…I mean F@#^&^* GREAT. Have some respect you People above, really, stop whining. I assure you, the show was worth every penny, and MORE. (I CAN’T believe with all the crap going on in the world…soapbox, I’m off…but seriously People, you have no clue of what you speak! I dare you to get off your couch/IPad and get out there. Maybe you’d find “ Love is everywhere” and “ Everything is Coming Your Way” Yea, get a grip. This is Rock ‘n Roll People! These two groups have some guitar qualities a like, but a lot more differences…and THEY respect each other enough to TOUR together…this symbolizes what’s so universal about music, they way people COME TOGETHER! Yep, I sound like a Hippy-Dippy person….think about it…it also sounds like the answer to making Congress TALK to each other, stopping Syrian-type regimes from just killing people and well, compassion and appreciation are the only real tools we humans have in just getting along and in OUR case…pursuing happiness. LIVE music…get there!

Sweet Melissa August 5, 2012, 09:20:00

What a huge disappointment! Travelled to Raleigh to see the Allmans last night. Gregg did not sing, they barely ever showed him on the screen. It was the Derek Trucks show.
So sad to see the great man doing so poorly. I guess the road doesn’t go on forever….
