Cracker will host their second annual Campout East this summer. The band’s East Coast answer to their popular West Coast Campout in Joshua Tree, the fest will take place in Vista, VA on June 1 and 2. Cracker will perform both nights while Southern Culture On The Skids, the Dexter Romweber Duo, Carl Anderson, Radiolucent, 7Horse, Joe Fletcher & The Wrong Reasons and others are slatted to appear. A camping option is also available. Additional acts will be confirmed in the coming days.

In related news, Cracker co-founder Johnny Hickman will release the new solo album Tilting on July 3. For his new album, Hickman spliced his trademark Americana rock with some more hook-laden pop songs.

“The songs on Tilting are definitely more personal, more autobiographical than on either [my first solo album] Palmhenge or Cracker records,” Hickman says in a statement. “I didn’t set out to do that but it’s just where I am in life I suppose. I didn’t steer cautiously around any of my feelings or experiences, good or bad. It’s as honest as hell, I can tell you that. Lyrically, there’s a little mid-life crisis catharsis going on here, not that that’s a bad thing. That and just being pissed off and reveling in it. I also love collaborating, which I do with David as well as my long time friend Chris LeRoy. Two of the twelve songs on Tilting were written by or with Chris, though the majority of these songs are directly from my head and heart.”

Cracker also plans to release a new studio album in 2013. They will also spend the summer touring with Barenaked Ladies and Blues Traveler as part of the Last Summer On Earth Tour.
