Members of Widespread Panic will come together for a benefit concert to aid Clarke County teacher Jan Tibbett. Tibbett, a Clarke County teacher for 18 years, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on August 30, 2011 and has been undergoing intensive treatment since. To help raise funds to offset Tibbett’s medical expenses, some of Athens’ best musicians are joining forces for the Tibett Fundraising Festival. The benefit will include performances by the Romper Stompers featuring Widspread Panic drummer Todd Nance, The Heap featuring Widespread Panic percussionist Domingo “Sunny” Oritz, Taste Like Good, Debris, and a Dr. Arvin Scott drum clinic with Ortiz. The event takes place June 3 at the Melting Point in Athens, GA.
