Bill Kreutzmann Will Write Memoir for Grateful Dead’s 50th Anniversary

The Grateful Dead will celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2015. Founding drummer Bill Kreutzmann will mark the occasion with an autobiography set for release that year. An Associated Press story indicates that the book “will include reflections on his “deep bond” with the late Jerry Garcia and memories of Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones and the Allman Brothers.” As we’ve already reported, David Browne will write a biography of the group for Da Capo in conjunction with the milestone.

I hope it’s as good as Phil’s book “Searching for the Sound.” Mickey has written a bunch of books but no memoir yet. I’m sure Bobby will write a memoir as well. Billy has done a lot. I’m already looking forward to this.

I got a sneak look at a few chapters… Chap 1= I met jerry, we got ripped and played all night. Chap 10= After 30 years, jerry died and the music went with it.

Will he “marl the occasion” with a Bob Marley style spliff? Will he “mark” the occasion with his insightful commentary? Will he “mar” the occasion with bitter, nasty resentful comments?
