ALO paid tribute to two recently passed musicians, Beastie Boys’ Adam “MCA” Yauch and The Band’s Levon Helm, at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl last night. The show was also the opening night of the band’s tour in support of their new studio album Sounds Like This (read our review of the album here).

Partway through their extended set, ALO busted into a take on Beastie Boys’ “Root Down.” Then, during their encore, the group invited opening act Chris Kasper and his band for a cover of The Band’s “The Weight.” Chris Velan, who opened for ALO in the past and currently lives in New York, also sat in on The Band staple.

ALO will perform at Boston’s Brighton Music Hall this evening. They will also perform at Boston’s Life Is Good flagship store at 2PM this afternoon.
