Neil Young & Crazy Horse Will Play Red Rocks with Alabama Shakes

Neil Young & Crazy Horse will return to Morrison, CO’s famed Red Rocks on August 5 and 6. Alabama Shakes, who will open for Young on both nights, broke the news with an energetic post on Facebook that read, “A true dream come true. we will have the honor of opening for our hero Neil Young & Crazy Horse at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on August 5 and 6. Wowzers. Playing with Neil Young at one of the best venues in the world! Holy Cow!” With the exception of a headlining appearance at San Francisco’s Outside Lands, these are the first Crazy Horse shows Young has announced in support of his new album Americana. The three dates are likely part of a larger tour. Young released a concert film, Red Rocks Live / Friends + Relatives, recorded at the outdoor venue in 2000.

What a meteoric rise for this band. Its staggering. Hopefully the Shakes can handle it all & not get too “heady”. Its almost an unsustainable ascension. Rooting for them.

Holy Shakes and Heart of Gold. I cannot believe my all time favorite old and new musicians are playing in my backyard. The planets must be aligned. These will be two phenomenal nights.

Shakes guarantee a sell-out but not for the whole night if NY/CH play nothing but Americana for the duration

“Americana” has 11 songs. It’s not enuf material for an entire concert… And Neil Young doesn’t need ANY opening act to sell out, dude… He’s been regularly selling out venues for 40+ years.

Neil doesn’t need “The Shakes” to sell out a show. It’s f*cking Neil Young. Do yourself a favor and Wiki him doucher

So nice to see kids speculating on if other kids stay around for Neil Young, Surprised they don’t think Neil Young should open for the Shakes.

The “Shakes” guarantee a sellout? Uh, It’s Neil and the Horse at Red Rocks. I repeat, Neil and the Horse at Red Rocks. After considering that, any opening act is simply optional and irrelevant.

i have been a NY fan since 72, and have seen him often. I did see AS with DBT before they even had an album out (Nov 2011), and they are great, but obviously no NY, almost ALL of the talent these days have a NY influence, he has and always will be the man!!!

Flying in from OH to go see NY at Red Rocks. I’m young and its absurd people my age are talking about the shakes the way they are. NY is one of the most influential artists of all time. I love Alabama Shakes but I wish it was just a night of Neil. He blows them out of the water. 1st time to CO/1st time to RR/2nd time seeing a legend.
