Dave Matthews Band will kick off their first extended summer tour since 2010 at Woodlands, TX’s Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion this evening. In conjunction with this, the band is sharing a five part documentary directed by Sam Erickson, who chronicled the creation of Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King in his film Road to Big Whiskey. Each episode of the documentary will be paired with a live performance from summer 2010, shot and directed by the DMB video crew. This episode includes a version of “JTR,” which opened the band’s US tour in Hartford, CT on May 28, 2010. The members of Dave Matthews Band recently spent time in the studio with Steve Lillywhite and will likely debut some new material this summer. The album is tentatively slated for release this fall.
