The original Brazilian Girls lineup has officially reunited. After a few years of inactivity—including a period when the band was reportedly auditioning new singers—Didi Gutman (keyboards) and Aaron Johnston (drums) and Jesse Murphy (bass) have come back together with frontwoman Sabina Sciubba (vocals).
Brazilian Girls have not officially performed together since 2008, and the band has not released an album since 2008’s New York City (though that album did not feature Murphy, who was on hiatus from the band).

During her time off, Sciubba recorded a solo album that is slated to be released later this year. Gutman co-wrote and produced several tracks for the latest Bebel Gilberto album All In One and was also nominated for an Emmy in 2011 for scoring the HBO documentary Sins of my Father. He is currently performing in the band Masa with a forthcoming album in the works.

Drummer Aaron Johnston has worked with artists like Ana Torroja and performed as a DJ. Along with Murphy, he has also performed in the country-influenced band California and Gutman, the electronic band Re:Redux, the improv-band Shitty Shitty Jam Band and Chris Berry Trio (often with Michael Kang). Murphy also clocked in time with Natalie Merchant’s band.

Brazilian Girls plans to tour this spring and will also begin work on a new studio album.
