Yeasayer will release their third studio album, Fragrant World, on August 21, 2012 via Secretly Canadian. This is the band’s first full-length release since 2010’s Odd Blood. In an unorthodox move, last week the band sent 200 random fans physical CD of the first single “Henrietta” and encouraged them to share it. Produced by the members of Yeasayer, the album features some darker textures. A note from the band’s camp explains:

Yeasayer have produced something that sounds foreign at first, but after a few studies is filled with the hooks the band is known for. This is not a dish of pop rocks like Odd Blood, instead Fragrant World is something much weirder and darker.

The group will preview material off the album during a tour that kicks off at Richmond, VA’s National on June 19.
