For the second day in a row, Phil Lesh, Furthur guitarist John Kadlecik and Ryan Adams & the Cardinals pedal steel player Jon Graboff treated fans to a last minute, free show at San Rafael, CA’s Terrapin Crossroads bar space yesterday. Things became more complicated, however, when the power went out before the performance.

The three musicians soldiered on though and offered an acoustic set from 10-11 PM illuminated by candlelight. Like most of Lesh’s bar sessions, the single-set performance mixed Grateful Dead chestnuts with a spirited selection of covers. Those covers included Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues”—with Graboff on lead vocals—and Bob Dylan’s “Visions of Johanna,” which the Grateful Dead covered twice in 1986 and again in the mid ’90s. The trio also covered Ryan Adams’ “Peaceful Valley,” which Lesh played with Phil & Friends a few times. Last night, Kadlecik supplied lead vocals.
