Bob Weir Joins Primus at Summer Camp

A classic Weir/Claypool jam

Bob Weir sat in with Primus at Chillicothe, IL’s Summer Camp on Friday. The Grateful Dead guitarist emerged during Primus’ set for a take on “The Other One.” Primus’ current incarnation features longtime RatDog drummer Jay Lane, who performed in an early incarnation of the band before meeting Weir. The drummer was also an original member of Furthur and continues to play with Weir in his Scaring the Children trio.

Weir and Primus’ Les Claypool have shared the stage a number of times in a variety of settings since collaborating at Gathering of the Vibes in 2000, though this was the first time Weir has performed with Primus proper. Weir is at Summer Camp for a performance with Chris Robinson and Jackie Greene.

Ummmm…That video is of Claypool with Ratdog. Not Weir with Primus.

Weir was a train wreck during his one off at the Primus show. He kept messing with his guitar, his strap broke, and his soloing was horrible. Watching him try to keep up with Les and Ler was just cringe worthy. I love Bobby and the Dead, but he just embarasses himself time after time.
