Stanley Jordan Sits in with Dave Matthews Band

Tim Reynolds and Stanley Jordan during their recent tour

Dave Matthews Band’s summer tour hit the Northeast last night for a performance at Hartford, CT’s Comcast Theatre. Partway through their set, the members of DMB invited out noted jazz/fusion guitarist Stanley Jordan for an extended take on the Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King track “Spaceman.”

This is the first time Jordan has sat in with Dave Matthews Band, though the guitarist has collaborated with DMB saxophonist Jeff Coffin and DMB guitarist Tim Reynolds in a number of settings over the years. Jordan and Reynolds also played some collaborative shows together during DMB’s recent touring hiatus in 2011 and 2012. Dave Matthews Band will return to Hartford this evening.
