On Thursday, May 24, Dead Kenny G’s headlined a show at Chicago’s Martyr’s. The trio—which features Skerik, Mike Dillon and Brad Houser—has a long history with Les Claypool and recently opened a stretch of shows for Primus. Skerik and Mike D are also veterans of Claypool’s Frog Brigade.

Claypool was in the area for a performance with Primus at Summer Camp and quietly sat in with the group on one of his first instruments, drums, for a chunk of the show (the band never formally introduced him). Near the end of the gig, Skerik invited Primus’ Larry Lalonde and Claypool—who was introduced as “the Colonel”—back out to play guitar and bass, respectively, on Claypool’s “D’s Diner”. As previously reported, Bob Weir then sat in with Primus at Summer Camp.
