Antibalas and Sharon Jones to Play Free Brooklyn Date
Some early Antibalas
Antibalas has only played select dates since 2008 while members of the band focus on a variety of side projects and their work on the Broadway musical Fela!. But the band will hit the road later this year in support of their new self-titled studio album, which is due out in August. Antibalas was produced by Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings bassist and co-founder Gabe Roth, who was also an early member of Antibalas (the two bands shared many members early on before achieving fame separately).
Antibalas and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings will share the stage once again as well when the two groups play Brooklyn, NY’s Williamsburg Waterfront on August 18. As previously reported, Antibalas will also play a benefit for producer Scotty Hard at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl on Sunday.
