As previously reported, Boone, NC’s 5th annual Music on the Mountaintop will take place from August 24-25. Railroad Earth will take the reins as the weekend’s host, curators and two-night headliners. While their involvement was revealed months ago, the festival just announced the list of other acts that will join Railroad Earth up in the High Country.

Pennsylvania rockers Dr. Dog sit atop the lineup, adding MOTM to their festival resume alongside this year’s editions of Hangout Festival, Lollapalooza, Pickathon and Outside Lands. Bluegrass mandolin expert Sam Bush will also be making a featured appearance, adding to the festival’s Americana slant. Other acts on the lineup include the soulful JJ Grey and Mofro, psychedelic country-tinged rockers Futurebirds, string-band revivalists The Hackensaw Boys and more generally folky bands like the Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Larry Keel & Natural Bridge, The Black Lillies and River Whyless. Additional acts will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
