Quincy, CA’s High Sierra Music Festival has confirmed its initial Playshop series. These intimate, often interactive performances will feature a number of unique sessions. One particularly interesting Playshop is billed as The Ramble Gramble: A Tribute to Levon Helm. Organized by ALO bassist Steve Adams, the event will find members of ALO, The Mother Hips, The Slip, Nicki Bluhm and others paying tribute to the late Band drummer. The musicians have performed a number of so-called Gramble jam sessions in different configurations since 2008.

Other highlights include: Sean Leahy’s Songs of The Grateful Dead, New Orleans Piano (featuring Marco Benevento, New Orleans Suspects’ CR Gruver, Johnny Vidacovich and Reggie Scanlan), Nathan Moore’s Hippy Fiasco Rides Again!, High Sierra Pick Extravaganza with Greensky Bluegrass, Songs of The Beatles, Skerik’s Horn-A-Copia, Guitarmageddon: Celebrating The Talking Heads (featuring Leahy, Tea Leaf Green’s Josh Clark and ALO’s Lebo), Bloody Mary Ball with The Nibblers, Brownout with Grupo Fantasma and The World According to Steve Poltz.
High Sierra will take place from July 5-8.
