While Dave Matthews Band was on hiatus in 2011, Dave Matthews Band fiddler Boyd Tinsley spent time working on a new, experimental film, titled Faces in the Mirror. On Monday, during a day off from DMB’s current tour, Tinsley screened the film at New York’s Varick Room and participated in a Q & A.

Indie roots band Alberta Cross—who are signed to Matthews’ ATO records—also played a short set at the screening. During their performance, Tinsley emerged for “Crate of Gold,” “Low Man” and a spirited “ATX.” In addition, DMB trumpeter Rashawn Ross joined Alberta Cross and Tinsley for “Thief and the Heartbreaker” (watch video of the musicians collaborating on “Thief and the Heartbreaker” below).

Faces in the Mirror was picked up by Snag films and will be released this August. In addition to some new music from Tinsley, the film’s soundtrack also features fellow Dave Matthews Band bassist Stefan Lessard, The Silent Comedy and Reggie Watts’ band Maktub.
