Gov’t Mule and Dr. John and the Lower 911 made their way to the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC last night for the second stop on their co-headling tour. Early on during Mule’s set, guitarist Warren Haynes invited Dr. John to the stage for a tribute to Levon Helm with cover of The Band staple “The Weight.” For the encore, Haynes welcomed Dr. John’s band (sans Dr. John)—consisting of John Cleary (keys), John Fohl (guitar), Derek Huston (sax), Sarah Morrow (trombone) and Raymond Weber (drums)—to help add a New Orleans style vibe on covers of Allen Toussaint’s “On Your Way Down” and Little Feat’s “Spanish Moon” (the latter of which contained teases of Dr. John’s “I Walk On Guilded Splinters”).

Dr. John and the Lower 911 and Gov’t Mule perform at the Raleigh Amphitheater in Raleigh, NC tonight.
