Sarah Jessica Parker hosts Trombone Shorty for Obama Fundraiser
Trombone Shorty took a quick detour from his South American tour yesterday to perform at an Obama for America fundraiser, held in the New York City home of actress Sarah Jessica Parker, a recently converted fan of the New Orleans based musician. Both President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were in attendance, as were other luminaries such as Aretha Franklin and Meryl Streep. For this performance, Shorty was joined by a stripped-down version of his band, featuring guitarist Pete Murano and drummer Joey Peebles.
Shorty had previously performed for the President at the taping of an episode of the PBS film series Red, White & Blues, held at the White House in February in honor of Black History Month.
