The Capitol Theatre Will Open in September

Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre will officially reopen in September. The classic venue hosted performances by the likes of Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, David Bowie, the Grateful Dead and Santana in the ’70s and had a second life as the home to jambands like Phish, Aquarium Rescue Unit, moe., Blues Traveler and others in the ’90s. The club’s last major public show was Strangefolk in ’98.

As previously reported, Relix/Jambands.com publisher and Brooklyn Bowl founder Peter Shapiro is the driving force behind the recently renovated theater. Though the Cap has not confirmed its opening lineup, Shapiro has stated that the venue will honor its past and include a mix of current jam, rock, indie, hip-hop and electronic artists.

Saw 5 phantastic Phish shows in that Theatre in Portchester, (still convinced the 2 nights over Thanksgiving in 92 should be an official Live Phish Release) & I look forward to making the trip from NYC up there again soon. That building is filled with incredible karma, & the magic will begin anew this Fall. Thanks Pete, & all the others involved for bringing this gem of a venue back.

well the .454 round would be good for a tank maybe, or taking down a witch with one shot. but aagsnit say a hunter or smoker, or even just the plain horde of zombies? Overkill.
