When Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon announced their separation many wondered about the band’s future. The group has not performed since the fall and the members of the band seem content pursuing a range of solo projects. One sign of hope came yesterday when Yoko Ono confirmed that she will release a new collaborative album with Moore and Gordon.

But Moore has formed a new band, according to Matablog. Dubbed Chelsea Light Moving, the group features guitarist Keith Wood, bassist Samara Lubelski, and drummer John Moloney. Sonic Youth’s label Matador will release the band’s debut album. Chelsea Light Moving has confirmed a few upcoming dates, including Missoula, MT’s Top Hat (6/24), Boulder, CO’s Boulder Theater (6/27) and Denver, CO’s Larimer Lounge (6/29). The band’s first officially released song is available here.
