moe. and Gov’t Mule closed their co-headlining tour at Wallingford, CT’s Oakdale Theatre last night. While performing in Raleigh, NC before the tour, Gov’t Mule surprised fans by busting out a cover of moe.’s “Opium.” On Saturday night in Asbury Park, NJ, Mule revisited “Opium” and, last night, moe. returned the favor by covering Mule’s “Thorazine Shuffle” during their set. Mule’s Warren Haynes and Danny Louis then joined moe. onstage for another take on “Opium.”

Gov’t Mule closed the show with an extended set and encore. Partway through their two-hour set, saxophonist Bill Evans made a surprise appearance on “Devil Likes It Slow.” He remained onstage as moe. percussionist Jim Loughlin joined in the action for a cover of Traffic’s “Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys.” For their first encore, the members of Mule offered an extended version of The Doors’ “When The Music’s Over.” The group then returned with moe.’s Loughlin, Rob Derhak, Chuck Garvey and Al Schnier for an second encore of Pink Floyd’s “Money” and Little Feat’s “Spanish Moon.”

Gov’t Mule will perform at Milwaukee, WI’s SummerFest on Wednesday while moe. will perform at New York’s Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club tomorrow.
