New York acid jazz pioneers Groove Collective will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a special Alumni Jam at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl on August 30. The performance will reunite past and present members of the band, whose alumni have gone on to co-write Santana’s comeback hit “Smooth” and perform with Steely Dan. The alumni show is slated to feature founding members of the ensemble like drummer Genji Siraisi, percussionist/MC Gordon “Nappy G” Clay, percussionist Chris Theberge, trombonist Josh Roseman, bassist Jonathan Maron, vibraphonist Bill Ware and saxophonist Jay Rodriguez. Longtime keyboardist Barney McAll and trombonist Curtis Fowlkes are also set to appear. Additional special guests are expected.
