The String Cheese Incident welcomed a number of guests to the stage last night. The show was the band’s third and final set at Rothbury, MI’s second-annual Electric Forest Festival. String Cheese Incident started the show with Travelin’ McCourys’ Ronnie McCoury and Jason Carter onstage for “Minor Swing.” Fellow Travelin’ McCourys then joined his band and String Cheese for “How Mountain Girls Can Love,” “Six Days On The Road” and “Barstool.” Finally, longtime SCI collaborator Keller Williams—who will release the collaborative album Pick with Travelin’ McCourys tomorrow—joined both groups for “Long Gone.” The Travelin’ McCourys then left the stage as Williams led String Cheese Incident through one a song he recorded with the sextet for 1999’s Breathe, Best Feeling.

The collaborations continued later in the show. At the start of their second set, fellow Colorado resident and Big Gigantic saxophonist Dominic Lalli emerged for an extended “Jellyfish.” The song then segued into “Eye Know Why.” Lalli returned during String Cheese Incident’s encore for “Freedom Jazz Dance” and Bob Marley’s “Could You Be Loved.”

String Cheese Incident’s Electric Forest set was equally as colorful. Though the show did not feature any musical guests, like many of String Cheese Incident’s Saturday night big event “ritual” sets, a number of illuminated dancers joined the band onstage during “Rivertrance.” The extended trance segment also featured a fireworks display. In other news, SCI mandolin player Michael Kang switched to a Gibson guitar during “Drive.”

In other String Cheese sit in news, Disco Biscuits drummer Allen Aucoin—who was onsite for a performance as DrFameus, sat in with The Nadis Warriors. The musicians collaborated on “MWDLG Part 1” and “Stayin Alive (Bee Gees vs TBears vs Tech 9 Remix)” during The Nadis Warriors’ set in the Good Life VIP Late Night Tent.

String Cheese will kick off a three-night run at Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks on July 5.
