Umphrey’s McGee headlined Asbury Park, NJ’s Stone Pony Outdoor Stage yesterday. G. Love & Special Sauce opened the night and, a few songs into Umphrey’s McGee’s single-set performance, G. Love emerged to play harmonica on “Women Wine and Song.” During their extended encore, Umphrey’s McGee also debuted a cover of New Jersey metal heroes Danzig’s “Mother.” Adding a twist to the cover, Umphrey’s McGee drummer Kris Myer supplied lead vocals while Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Jake Cinninger moved over to drums. The group also talked about seeing Danzig—the group led by Misfits’ Glenn Danzig—live at Bonnaroo before busting into the tune (they described the set as “quite interesting and quite fucking rad”).

Umphrey’s McGee and G. Love will perform at Interlochen, MI’s Kresge Auditorium tomorrow.
