Of all the members of The Allman Brothers Band, perhaps longtime percussionist Marc Quiñones keeps the lowest profile during the band’s off season. In addition to session work, Quiñones plays in the Latin group 8 y Más, which also features Bobby Allende, Angel Fernandez and Ricky Gonzalez. The band released its first production, Juega Billar and the group has performed around New York over the years.

On July 5, New York fans will have an opportunity to see Quiñones before the Allman Brothers Band goes on tour when 8 y Más plays a free tribute to salsa king Tito Puente. Part of the SummerStage concert series, the free performance will take place at Bronx, NY’s St. Mary’s Park. The Allman Brothers Band will kick off their summer tour at Thornville, OH’s All Good Festival on July 21.
