Jazz ensemble John Scofield Hollowbody Band has just announced a July tour across Europe featuring 20 shows. The band will primarily play Scofield’s original songs but will also be incorporating tunes written by other members of the band as well as covers of jazz favorites.

The Hollowbody Band is guitarist John Scofield’s creation which features Kurt Rosenwinkel on a second guitar, Ben Street on bass and Bill Stewart on drums. They recently wrapped up rehearsals for the Europe tour, although the band is striving for jazzy improvisations on stage.

In a statement, Scofield says, “The guitar has a huge tonal pallet and the Hollowbodies employ that pallet times doubly featuring Scofield`s arrangements for the ensemble and the orchestral possibilities of guitars, bass violin and percussion. It`s a big band! The music is neither through-composed or a hot licks contest! Improvisation is the key ingredient as always and the real magic comes in the interplay.”
