Wilco played their largest headlining show to date last night. The performance took place just outside their Chicago hometown at Geneva, IL’s Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Fellow Chicago artists Andrew Bird and The Congregation opened the night, and Wilco celebrated the end of Independence Day weekend with a firework display. Before last night, Wilco’s largest non-festival headlining date was a July 13, 2009 stop at Brooklyn, NY’s Key SpanPark. Over 13,000 fans attended the concert.

In addition to being Wilco’s biggest headlining show, last night’s performance was also one of the band’s longest in some time. The group offered up 25 songs, ranging from newer The Whole Love songs to deeper cuts like “Say You Miss Me.” Andrew Bird joined the group during their set for “Jesus, Etc.” and returned during their first encore for “California Stars.” The night came to a close with a high-energy version of “Hoodoo Voodoo.”

Wilco’s tour will resume with an appearance at Louisville, KY’s Forecastle Festival on July 15. The group has also added club shows at Vienna, VA’s Wolf Trap on July 17 and 18 .
