The String Cheese Incident closed a three-night homecoming run at Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks on Saturday night. For the second night in a row, it rained during the performance but unlike Friday’s show Saturday’s festivities continued uninterrupted. The evening had a festive feel with pops of fire decorations onstage and many fans decked out in illumination-themed costumes.

The group opened their first set with “Rollover” and then brought things full circle by closing the set with the end portion of the song. The new Indian-themed fiddle tune “Bollymunster” was an improvisational highlight.

During their second set, String Cheese introduced two new covers. Partway through the new trance jam “Rosie,” String Cheese moved into a high-energy cover of LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem.” Later in the set, percussionist Jason Hann and kit drummer Michael Travis switched places so the latter musician could sing lead on a new cover of Sting’s “Love Is the 7th Wave.” The band once again packed several songs into their encore, including “Elvis’s Wild Ride,” “Joyful Sound,” a drum jam and “Shine.” During “Elvis’s Wild Ride,” Travis moved away from his kit a second time to play percussion on Bill Nershi’s acoustic guitar. The band returned after that segment for a second encore, “Johnny Cash.”

String Cheese Incident will perform in Park City, UT tomorrow.
