Bruce Hornsby Soundtracks Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer

Noted pianist, accordian player, and songwriter Bruce Hornsby has put the finishing touches on the soundtrack for Spike Lee’s upcoming film, Red Hook Summer. The follow up to 2011’s Bride of the Noisemakers is set for release as a 90 day Amazon digital download exclusive on July 31st, followed by a wide release of both the physical and digital album.

The self-produced effort is Hornsby’s second project for 429 Records, and will feature instrumental solo piano as well as two vocal tracks.

The film, which will be released by 40 Acres and a Mule, will open in New York City on August 10 and nationally on August 24.

I don’t think we should consider soundtrack albums as follow-ups to actual albums. There’s a big difference between soundtracks that are supposed to enhance a movie and an album of songs that are intended to stand alone as music.

i would consider this a follow up to his last studio album, which was also a Spike Lee movie album.
it was, the one about the basketball player, i always think of the song “levitate”, then Bruce put out bride of the noisemakers, which was a live album, and now anouther spike lee album.
idug tha last one, probably dig rthis one, word.

The musical score is delightful and I so enjoyed the songs sung by Bruce. Very meaningful and spitiually uplifting. He gets it right everytime and his career continues to improve all the time! So proud of this GREAT ARTIST’S many fantastic accomplishments. Love, love, love all down-loaded songs and ordered the CD, just awaiting its arrival! Blessings and love to Bruce always! Ah xoxo
