Marco Benevento Will Celebrate His New Album at Bowery Ballroom
As previously reported, Marco Benevento will release the new studio album TigerFace on September 11 via The Royal Potato Family. Recorded and mixed by Tom Biller (Silversun Pickups, Elliot Smith, Fiona Apple) and Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Antony & The Johnsons, Akron/Family), Benevento’s fourth album features drummers Matt Chamberlain (Brad Mehldau, Bill Frisell), John McEntire (Tortoise, The Sea & The Cake) and Andrew Barr (The Barr Brothers), bassists Dave Dreiwitz (Ween), Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green) and Mike Gordon (Phish), violinist Ali Helnwein (Traction Avenue Chamber Orchestra) and saxophonist Stuart Bogie (Antibalas, Superhuman Happiness). For the first time on record, Benevento also worked with a vocalist, Kalmia Traver (Rubblebucket), who sings on two tracks.
Benevento has now confirmed that he will celebrate the album’s release with a big show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom on October 12. This is the second time the keyboardist has headlined the marquee venue with his solo group. He will also host a CD release event at Phil Lesh’s San Rafael, CA venue Terrapin Crossroads on September 14.
