Phish Tapped for NBC’s Phelps Medal Montage
-353x.jpg)
Before an interview with Michael Phelps, who is now the winningest athlete in Olympics history, NBC aired a montage featuring all nineteen of his medalling performances. It begins predictably enough with some Hans Zimmer-esque horns and drums, but takes a turn for the awesome around the halfway point when the first notes of Phish’s “Tweezer Reprise” take hold.
Conspiratorially, NBC has reedited the montage and removed the apparently offending track in favor of more melodramatic action-film music, but luckily, sports site Gunaxin was there to archive and restore it to its previous glory.
Video of the montage featuring “Tweezer Reprise” has now been taken down from youtube and various other sites.
