The Flaming Lips, Fun, Grizzly Bear and More to Perform Stephen Colbert’s Colbchella ’012

On last night’s episode of The Colbert Robert, host Stephen Colbert announced the “Pepsi Presents StePhest Colbchella ’012: Rocktaugustfest.” Being held on August 10 at New York City’s Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum on Friday, August 10, the event will host musical performers by The Flaming Lips, Fun, Grandmaster Flash, Grizzly Bear and Santigold. Colbert will showcase a performance and an interview from each artist on his show during the week of August 13.

“We are gonna rock the boat, which won’t be easy because the Intrepid displaces 41,434 tons,” said Stephen Colbert. Adding, “Does Bonnaroo have cruise missiles? I think not.”

When presented with the opportunity to appear on The Colbert Report for the second time, Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne exclaimed: “Oh Gosh!!! The terror that strikes when I realized I’m going to be interviewed once again by Stephen Colbert!!!...no. It’s wonderful but him playing stupid is the smartest thing you’ll encounter!! What a rush to even think about it!!”

Intrepid is docked on the river, so he probably will not roll into the ocean. It should be pretty damn cool to hear the lips play their psychedelic mess on a boat!!!! That least I hope so because I scored two free fix!!! I wicked pumped for it, even though I am not a real big fan of the bands other than the Lips and Grizzly Bear. It should be a blast!
