Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Brendan Bayliss celebrated his birthday on Saturday night. During Umphrey’s McGee’s performance at Bridgeport, CT’s The Klein, the band and crowd wished Bayliss a happy birthday at the end of his band’s first set. Then, during their encore, the members of Umphrey’s McGee honored Bayliss’ birthday request with a first-time cover of Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets” that included some teases of Pink Floyd’s “Echoes. The song eventually segued into “Nothing Too Fancy.” (Bayliss has performed the song at solo shows in the past.)

Umphrey’s McGee will perform at moe.down today.
