Legendary southern rock outfit Lynyrd Skynyrd have announced a few shows in support of their upcoming album, Last of a Dyin’ Breed, including a performance within earshot of the Republican National Convention.

The concert will take place on August 26th at The American Action Network Pavilion at Liberty Plaza, about half a mile down the road from the home of the 2012 Republican National Committee at Tampa Times Forum. The show will kick off a series of events set for the weekend of the RNC, including performances by country star Trace Adkins and Kid Rock, the latter of whom sampled “Sweet Home Alabama” on last year’s top-40 hit “All Summer Long.” Skynyrd’s invite-only concert is a part of a benefit for Citizens Helping Heroes, a non-political non-profit dedicated to supporting active members of the military and their immediate relatives.

The band will also perform a free concert on August 17 as a part of Fox’s “All American Concert Series” outside Fox News studios in midtown Manhattan.
