Dean Ween Launches New Website to Answer Fans’ Questions

Ween guitarist Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo has launched a new website called, where he plans to fan’s questions. According to the site, fans are welcome post questions about “fishing, music, relationships, etc.” A statement on the site reads:

Hi, my name is Mickey Melchiondo. I also go by the name Dean Ween, or Deaner. I used to play guitar in a band called Ween. I’m also a licensed charter boat Captain with the United States Coast Guard. I run fishing trips out of Belmar, NJ on my boat ARCHANGEL. This is a full-time job and I love being on the water. A lot of my clients are fans of the band and they ask me questions all day when they should be concentrating on fishing instead. I have started this site in the hopes of answering some of those questions beforehand. Feel free to ask me anything, be it about fishing, music, relationships, etc.

Already, Deaner has responded to a question asking about his favorite Grateful Dead song.

“I prefer the Jerry ballads, but that’s a tough one to call because it changes, and there’s a lot of tunes I like,” says Deaner. “Also, I am close friends with a lot of real Deadheads who put in years of their lives into that band and that makes me feel like less of an expert…Ok, all that bullshit aside, I’m just gonna go for a track off one of the records rather than a specific gig, the version of ‘Dark Star’ on Live Dead.”

You don’t need to be a fan of Ween to respect what Mickey Melchiondo is doing. Typically, when most bands split, the fans are usually left in the dark. An apology, a brief statement and rumor is often the only thing fans are left with to soften the blow. A Q&A website will likely be as helpful for Dean as it is for the fans. It seems only fitting that, an unconventional band like Ween, continue to break ground even after breaking up.

I went fishing with this man after 15 years of seeing him perform small clubs and gigantic venues. He is the most professional person I have ever had the honor to fish with. Thanks, Deanor.

Hope you’re well.maybe we’ll hear something from you after awhile. I’ve always dug your playing, Moistboyz 2 is like an encyclopedia of how to play rock guitar, let alone ween and ween live. keep the wheels spinning and the beavers grinning, THOR
