The Americana Music Festival & Conference has announced it will honor “The Music of Memphis” during the three-day event in Nashville, TN from September 12-15 with three programming events featuring Memphis luminaries. Booker T. Jones will serve as the centerpiece to the event as the Memphis musician will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for Instrumentalist as well as participate in various activities through the weekend.
Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars), Jody Stephens (Big Star/Golden Smog), Scott Bomar (The Bo-Keys) and John Hampton (Producer) will all participate in “The Music of Memphis” panel discussion on the second day, in which the musicians will discuss the past, present, and future of Memphis music.

The final day of the event will feature performances from local Memphis musicians Star & Micey as well as performances from Luther Dickinson, Jim Lauderdale, and The North Mississippi Allstars along with The Bo-Keys. The finale of the event will be “The Songs of Big Star” performed by Chris Stamey (db’s), Mike Mills (REM), and the surviving member of Big Star’s original lineup, Jody Stephens.

The festival, which brought in more than 12,000 people last year, is now selling wristbands for all evening showcases for $50.
