After Coachella’s decision to expand to two weekends paid off so handsomely this year, netting over $47 million in ticket sales alone, the Austin City Limits Festival will be the next big name music festival to follow suit. The Austin City Council this week voted unanimously to allow C3 Presents to expand the Austin City Limits Music Festival at Zilker Park to two weekends next year, KUT News reports. The expansion for the double-weekend festival would see it extending from its currently scheduled weekend of October 11-13 to the weekend of October 4-6.

The 2012 Austin City Limits festival will take place from October 12-14 and features musical acts including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, The Black Keys, Jack White, Florence + The Machine and The Avett Brothers among many others.
