The 5th annual Equifunk Festival came to a close early Sunday morning with a performance by Galactic. Held in Equinunk, PA at a summer camp, the festival featured bunk lodging options, camp activities and a range of musical acts. In addition to Galactic, the festival’s marquee offerings including the Led Zeppelin tribute band Bustle In Your Hedgerow, Dumpstaphunk, Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, Orgone and The Pimps of Joytime, among others. On Friday night, the livetronica super group Sucker Punch also performed for the first time since 2003. The ensembles’ current lineup features the Disco Biscuits’ Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner, Lotus’ Mike Greenfield and The New Deal’s Jamie Shields.

During Galactic’s headlining set, Joe Russo—who was onsite to play with Bustle—put on a dog costume and sat in for “Crazy Horse Mongoose.” Earlier in the evening, Galactic drummer Stanton Moore also sat in on Russo’s kit during the Bustle In Your Hedgerow set. Sucker Punch offered a mix of material from the band members various catalogs: the Simon Posford/Conspirator dub remix of “Solstice,” Shields’ “Denmark Massive,” Conspirator ‘s “Lunar Pursuit,” The New Deal’s “Home” and Conspirator’s “Macina Verde.” The show marked the first time Shields has played New Deal songs live in a number of months.
