Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Ghostland Observatory, Keller Williams, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Kyle Hollingsworth Band with The Motet Horn Ensemble and Zach Deputy were among the artists who performed this past weekend at the sixth annual Camp Barefoot Festival in Bartow, WV. Resulting from the festival’s intimate communal vibe, many of the festival’s top performers collaborated with one another throughout the weekend.

Camp Barefoot 6 kicked off on Thursday and took little time before some this year’s noteworthy musical happenings went down across the festival’s four stages. One of the festival’s most highly anticipated sets saw String Cheese Incident keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth’s band team up with The Motet Horn Ensemble. The collaborative set included a mix of originals and covers, including Radiohead’s “National Anthem,” Bob Marley’s “Stir It Up,” as well as the Grateful Dead’s “Slipknot” into “Franklin’s Tower.”

On Friday, Zach Deputy made his first guest appearance when he made his way over to the Cary Street Cafe Stage—shortly before his own evening set—to join longtime Umphrey’s McGee associates Tiny Boxes on a cover of “Georgia on My Mind.” Deputy then headed over to the Mountain State Brewing Co. stage for his own set, followed by performances by Rubblebucket, Ghostland Observatory, The Motet and a late-night set by Archnemesis.

Saturday saw Deputy performed his second evening set of the weekend, before heading over to the Eagles Nest Outfitters stage to join fellow loop-master Keller Williams on a cover of Harry Belafonte’s “Woman are Smarter.” Deputy continued his reign as the festival’s sit-in king after Williams’ set when he joined Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe for their late-evening set alongside Gordon Jones and Dusty Simmons from the DJ Williams Projekt.

Camp Barefoot 6 closed out on Sunday with a Bluegrass Jamboree that featured a list of acts including Black Mountain Bluegrass Band, Tara Mills with Strings Attached, Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and more.
