Following his reopening of The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY earlier this week, Relix Publisher/Brooklyn Bowl Owner Pete Shapiro has now announced that New York’s burlesque Slipper Room will also reopen this fall. According to a press release, the venue will feature a “wild range of music, magic, comedy, acrobatics, puppetry, animal acts, aerial acts, striptease, and more, with many of the renovations coming directly from the hands of the artists, actors, dancers, and musicians who will take the stage.” Shapiro, along with co-owner James Habacker plan to bring top performers from around the world, accompanied by a live band each night.

“Since we originally opened, The Slipper Room was not just a center for burlesque but for the entire arts community in NYC,” co-owner James Habacker said. “The theater became a home-away-from-home for so many unique artists in the city and across the world, and we can’t wait to finally welcome them back when we reopen.”

The Slipper Room originally opened in 1999 and quickly became a hotspot on New York’s Lower East Side. After closing for renovations in 2010, the theater was augmented with additions including a state-of-the-art light and sound system and new fly rigs for acrobats.
