My Morning Jacket returned to the road this weekend after a few weeks at home for the next leg of their Spontaneous Curation Series. On Friday, the band performed at Redmond, WA’s Marymoor Park. During their encore, My Morning Jacket invited out original guitarist Johnny Quaid for three songs he recorded with the band, “At Dawn,” “Phone Went West” and “Run Thru.” Quaid, who played in the group from 1998-2004, has performed with his former band several times in recent years, including during 2010’s five-night run at New York’s Terminal 5 and this summer’s Forecastle Festival.

Then, on Saturday, My Morning Jacket performed at Troutdale, OR’s Edgefield. Before their evening show, the group played a special afternoon kids’ show at You Who in Portland for The Children’s Cancer Association. The afternoon set included such numbers as “Tonight I Wanna Celebrate With You,” “I’m Amazed,” “Slow Slow Tune,” “Look At You,” “Wonderful (The Way I Feel),” “The Way That He Sings” and “Circuital.” At the end of MMJ’s Edgefield set, Quaid returned for a take on “One Big Holiday.”

Finally, last night My Morning Jacket performed at Boise, ID’s Knitting Factory. Quaid, who lives in the Treasure Valley area of the United States, completed his three-show run with his former band by joining in on their encore, which included “Phone Went West” and “One Big Holiday.”

My Morning Jacket will kick off a three-night run at Los Angeles’ The Wiltern on Tuesday. The band promises no repeats throughout the multi-night run.
