Paul McCartney and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones joined Blur’s Damon Albarn on his Africa Express tour on Saturday in London. Taking place in London’s Granary Square, the show saw Jones join the group early on in the evening and several more times throughout the five-hour set. Midway through the show, McCartney joined the group on bass, while Jones tackled mandolin duties, on a rendition of Rokia Traore’s “Dounia.” Macca later remerged during the marathon set to join in on a pair of Wings tunes, “Coming Up” and “Goodnight Tonight.”

The show also included appearances by members of Temper Trap, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Amadou and Mariam, Bombay Bicycle Club, Dead Prez, as well as South Africa rapper Spoek Mathambo, the Very Best and Senegalese luminary Baaba Maal.

Albarn’s Africa Express tour aims to raise awareness of the vibrant music scene in Africa and its culture.
